Pink Flamingos

about

Once in a while a song comes along that is pure unalloyed joy. Pamela Sue Mann’s Pink Flamingos is such a song and it lifts even the darkest of moods. It is playful, fun and simply joyously celebratory.

Pamela’s performance here is strong and supported by the powerful voices of Donna Lewis and Trina Hamlin. The crooning male voice of Philip Hurd-Wood near the end is just the right side of cheese and adds to the goofiness of the whole track.

It is a song about two dear friends experiencing the wonders of profound platonic love while dancing together absurdly in the supermarket in the midst of a motherfucker of a plague. Zooming out a bit, it’s a celebration of queerness, of life, and the emergence of our unique selves in the collective world - transforming the horrific into the divine, delirious hopefulness of humanity… starting with a single dance.

Where better or more appropriate to dress up in a wacky flamingo-patterned suit than a supermarket? Brightening up the aisles of produce and canned goods – and our lives.

"The sense of freedom and the energy that exudes through the song's lyrics are so joyous and comforting. Mann's suave vocals are, once again, a breeze of fresh sonic air running through a listener's lungs and soul." - Gio (Bluebird Reviews)

"It’s so fucking happy!!!!" - Phil Hurd Wood (Artist)

“Quirky, charming and musically effervescent, `Pink Flamingoes` provides the world with a catchy upbeat melody which is guaranteed to bring a smile across the globe. Dance, like pink flamingoes- potentially a Charleston for the 21st century !”
Alex Anthony-Lewczuk (Founder of Southside Broadcasting)

"Remarkably engaging!" - Chris Oxford (Literary Agent)

lyrics

I’m on the floor
Humbly bowing
See I’ve learned
what not to do
Let’s keep it here
Keep it perfect
I don’t even need
To kiss you
I’ve got something better

I wanna dance in the supermarket with you
I wanna dance in the supermarket with you
I wanna dance in the supermarket with you
Let’s dance like pink flamingos do

Your combat boots
Have ribbons of rainbows
Intoxicating
just like you
Let’s keep it here
Keep it perfect
Don’t even need
To kiss you

I’ve got something better

I wanna dance in the supermarket with you
I wanna dance in the supermarket with you
I wanna dance in the supermarket with you
Let’s dance like pink flamingos do

I’m the only me
You’re the only you
You know me so well

I’m the only me
You're the only you
You know me so well

I wanna dance in the supermarket with you
I wanna dance in the supermarket with you
I wanna dance in
Le supermarché with you
Let's dance like pink flamingos do

Let’s
Dance
Like pink flamingos do
And I will dance like me
And You will dance like you

Let’s
Dance ...
Like pink flamingos do
And I will dance like me
And You will dance like you
